Mission

Pipeline 4 Progress is a think tank and public forum dedicated to creating, attracting and retaining talented individuals to the Southern Tier of Upstate New York.

We pursue our mission above by forming policies and creating initiatives that support the economy of the New York Pipeline. A strong regional economy means more job opportunities and room for career advancement without the need for relocation. P4P takes special interest in the 40-below demographic by keeping them connected to their community, business, and political leaders. Our organization serves as a public forum for those leaders, making them more accessible to the residents they serve.

Goals

The core objective of P4P is to attract and retain talent. We will achieve this by…

  • Developing a regional alliance of committed organizations and individuals to collaboratively add value to the entire region.
  • Marketing the New York Pipeline as a recognizable place of high value.
  • Helping to position our region effectively to compete in the global economy.
  • Working to promote regional arts and recreation as we strive to increase the quality of life throughout the Pipeline.
  • Collaborating our efforts with professional networking organizations in our region.

History

Pipeline 4 Progress was established in Corning, NY in 2006. The effort was initiated to connect and engage the under 40 demographic. A major focus for Pipeline 4 Progress is to assist in the attraction and retention of talent in the P4P 13 county region.
"Go ahead, tell us how you really feel about life in the Southern Tier." That was our call to action for the Pipeline 4 Progress 2006 Summit, held January 13 in Corning, NY, and over 350 young adults from all walks of life responded with enthusiasm.

  • 78% 20-40 years of age
  • 80% college graduates
  • 28% graduate degree holders
  • 55% raised in the region
  • 40% new to the region within the last five years

We are facing a "brain drain epidemic" as talented professionals seek other markets to establish their careers, start families, and become involved with the community. P4P is dedicated to keeping you and other talented individuals in our region. In 2007, Elmira College was the site for "People Creating Potential." Bob Littell gave his keynote address on "Netweaving," and Amo Houghton spoke on his regional perspective as Congressman and CEO of Corning, Inc. The speakers were inspirational to the diverse audience. Today, P4P is developing, implementing, partnering, fostering, building, growing, cultivating… initiatives to engage and connect community stateholders - this is an important piece to attracting and retaining talent. We continue to move forward and do our part.
